Getting Ready for the San Diego Bonsai Show

The San Diego Bonsai Club’s Spring Show & Sale is coming up April 26–27, 2025 — and I’m looking forward to being part of it again.

It’s always a great event — tables packed with trees, tools, pots, and plenty of inspiration. This year, I’ll be selling a mix of items: a selection of bonsai pots I’ve made by hand, a few I brought back from Japan last year, and some young Chinese elms and junipers — all good starter material for someone beginning their journey.

Aside from selling, I really enjoy being part of the club. It’s a great way to learn from more experienced members, attend live demonstrations, take part in workshops, and access quality material through raffles and club sales. Just being around quality trees and passionate members is a constant source of motivation.

If you’re in the San Diego area, it’s definitely worth stopping by. Admission is free, and there will be bonsai technique demonstrations at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm each day, with club members available to chat and answer questions.
